Hey how are you?
Dear friends and colleagues,
Welcome to the first issue of 30 Seconds Healthcare! Happy to meet you. My name is Kath – and my mission is bridge the gap between life sciences and business.
It has been a really tough several months. I share with you this picture I saw recently on Twitter that really resonated. My sincere hope is that we all face this dark period of our lives with as much grace and courage as we can muster, and come out of this stronger.
Over the quarantine, I started to think a lot to myself (it’s what happens when you are stuck in a studio apartment with no other living thing than the basil plant…) How are we supposed to know what is fact versus fiction in healthcare when facts are hidden in acronyms and multi-consonant words (like bamlanivimab, not to call out the latest COVID-19 treatment approved)?
30 Seconds Healthcare’s main goal is to simplify complex ideas– with charts and 7th grade language. So that you can scan it in 30 seconds and share with your nephew or grandparent. We are going to cover in the next few weeks:
Vaccines and plans – when will I get the vaccine and how do they work?
Healthcare policies – how does election affect my health care?
New age of health care – what do virtual care and digital health mean for me?
Biotech innovations – what scientific advances are out there to treat diseases?
Thank you for joining the very first email. Within 3 days of launch, I am joined by 30+ of my closest friends and passionate colleagues in healthcare. I trust your judgement and hope that you can provide inputs as the pilot group. I will try my best to write on Thursdays when I can (Ka-THursdays haha ). If it is helpful to you, please share with friends.
Stay strong,
Kath
P.S. This Thursday we will cover Moderna vs Pfizer vaccine results and government distribution plans to actually provide the vaccine. See you soon!
